AC trouble at Kanteerava

Last Updated 20 November 2014, 18:50 IST

The Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium is infamous for its glitches. Be it the poor sanitation facilities, air-conditioning or broken seats, no event at this venue has passed off without a complaint.

At the ongoing IBSF World Snooker Championship, the common grievance amongst the cueists is the lack of proper air-conditioning which they feel is hampering their game.

“The air-conditioning is very bad and it feels very stuffy inside,” remarked Pankaj Advani. “I’m not complaining but I’m just saying. With us needing to wear a bowtie, it gets very hot in there. It’s hard to concentrate. The warm conditions are also not ideal for snooker.”

Billiards and Snooker Federation of India secretary S Balasubramaniam acknowledged the problem and is hopeful the stadium authorities will rectify it by Friday. “There is some problem with the air-conditioning and we are not able to operate it at the optimum level. The stadium authorities are working on it and hope to have it fixed by Friday morning.

“In case, they are not able to, I’ve talked to the IBSF officials on relaxing the bowtie rule. That may ease things up a bit.”
