Former MCI chief met Ranjit Sinha

Last Updated 21 November 2014, 20:30 IST

Disgraced Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Ranjit Sinha met the scam-tainted former president of Medical Council of India Ketan Desai several times at his home, but the agency did not acknowledge these meetings.

Responding to a query made under the Right to Information Act, the probe agency said it did not have any information on any meetings between Desai and Sinha. But documents submitted in the Supreme Court including a visitor’s book for Sinha’s house have reportedly recorded five meetings between Desai and Sinha. The log book was submitted to the bench in a sealed cover. Sinha’s lawyers never denied the allegations about those meetings.

“We are going to lodge an appeal, as permitted under the RTI Act, against the seemingly cooked up information provided by the CBI central public information officer. More importantly, we are also going to bring this deplorable situation to the notice of the home ministry,” said Kunal Saha, a US-based doctor, who runs a non-governmental organisation.
