A KSRTC bus driver allegedly attempted suicide while on duty by consuming poison in a bus at satellite bus stand on Mysuru Road on Sunday.

The driver, identified as Mohan, has been a shifted to Victoria Hospital and his condition is said to be critical, police said. His family members alleged that Mohan made the attempt on his life as he was unable to bear harassment by his higher officers.

Mohan was reportedly upset with his recent transfer. KSRTC Divisional Controller Lingaraju denied the allegations of harassment. “Mohan might have taken the extreme step for personal reasons. Nobody in the department ever harassed him,” he said.

Held for flashing

A 26-year-old cab driver was thrashed by the public and handed over to the police after he allegedly flashed his genitals at a woman in Bellathur on Sunday afternoon.

Police said that Ashok, a resident of Whitefield, was relieving himself at a vacant spot, when a woman in the adjoining house, who was washing clothes nearby, objected to his act. Ashok asked the woman to mind her business. The woman raised an alarm and alleged that Ashok flashed his genitals at her. Soon the local people thrashed him and handed him over to the police. Ashok has been booked on the charge of outraging the modesty of a woman.
