Sandalwood actor Sathish Ninasam, who rose to fame after starring as the lead in last year’s hit film ‘Lucia’, is all set to showcase a new side of him in the upcoming movie, ‘Rocket’. The ‘Manasaare’ actor has agreed to take on the role of a chic, fashion-conscious college graduate.

The actor has become well-known for his portrayal of rural characters and says he wants to break out of that mould. “My fans have got used to seeing me in the same roles so I wanted to do something different. When I first heard the script, I didn’t like it. But then I went back and read it, I realised it was something different and it was really nice. I thought the script was worth making,” he says.

Talking about his role, he says, “I play a guy who has just graduated from college and is in love with a girl, and he follows her around. It’s a romantic comedy that will appeal to all kinds of people, whether the young or old. It will and it should!” He adds, “It is an action-packed film as well. The character is very trendy, rich and it is an urban story.”

According to him, the team did a thorough research into the character. “We spent a whole day just for the photoshoot. It’s something different.” About the title, ‘Rocket’, he says, “We decided to call it ‘Rocket’ because of the character — he is someone who walks, talks, dances, fights and does everything at the speed of a rocket.”

Going into the details, Sathish says, “It is a humourous film, with witty and fast dialogues that people will love. That was one of the reasons I chose to do the movie — although it is funny, it is sensible at the same time, something that people appreciate. Everything about the movie is sensible.”

‘Rocket’ will be the maiden venture for his production house, ‘Sathish Picture House’. It stars actress Aishani Shetty and a group of youngsters, who will bring the film together. The shooting will begin in December.
