J&K to see more Modi rallies in coming days

After addressing an election rally in the Kishtwar district of Jammu last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to speak to people in the Srinagar and Anantnag districts of Kashmir Valley on December 6.

“The prime minister will address two election rallies in Srinagar and Anantnag on December 6,” state BJP vice-president Ramesh Arora told reporters here.

Arora said Modi is also scheduled to address two more election rallies in the Jammu region in the coming phases. “We have decided the venues for rallies in Udhampur and Jammu districts. The dates will be finalised soon,” he added.

With the BJP embarking on its “Mission 44+” to form the next government in the state, the prime minister has begun campaigning to boost the party’s prospects in Jammu and Kashmir. The Kishtwar visit was Modi’s fifth to the region after taking over as prime minister in May this year.

During the rally, Modi said his party would pursue development in Jammu and Kashmir and get rid of corruption if it’s voted to power. “One family rules and robs the state for five years and then after it becomes unpopular, it gives the power to rob the state to the other family. They have done political match-fixing between themselves,” the prime minister alleged.

Last week, BJP national president Amit Shah and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also addressed election rallies in the Jammu region to garner support for party candidates.
