A 16-year-old tribal boy hanged himself in Baran district of Rajasthan after the alleged humiliation and harassment by the school teacher.

In a suicide note left for parents, Dilkush Sahariya accused his teacher Mukut Bihari Sen for harassing and beating him and requested police to take strict action against his teacher.

The teacher was arrested by police and was sent to judicial custody by a local court on Monday.

Police said Dilkush Sahariya was studying in class 10 in government secondary school in Bansthuni village. He was a resident of Rampuria village under Bhanwargarh police station area of Baran district.

“The child was studying in his room while the parents were preparing dinner. When they called him to eat the food he did not reply. The parents checked the room and found that the child had hanged himself from the ceiling,” said Bajrang Singh Hada, station house officer, Bhanwargarh police station.

The child was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead, he added.
Police searched the room and found the suicide note written by the child which explained the reason for his action.

“The boy has left a suicide note that his teacher Mukut Bihari Sen used to beat and humiliate him in front of others. The boy has accused that teacher would burden him with excess work,” said Bajrang Singh Hada.

“Once he could not complete his home work following which the teacher beat him and abused him saying that he was big burden on school and why doesn’t he die,” said Hada.

Dilkush has two younger brothers. His father is a driver and mother works under NAREGA, he added.

This is the second incident in week where a school kid has committed suicide after being allegedly harassed by school teacher.

A week before, a 12-year-old boy had committed suicide in Sirohi district, leaving behind a suicide note in which he accused three teachers of beating him for not doing his homework.
