Sandalwood actress Deepika Kamaiah, who is known for her role in Chingari, says she is very particular about the roles she takes on. Although the actress is on a hiatus at the moment, she says if she comes across the right script, she will take it on.

The Auto Raja actress who was also a participant of ‘Bigg Boss Kannada Season 2’ says, “I’m not happy with the kind of work that I am being offered at the moment. I am very particular about what I take on, and I have always been that way. I need to have good co-stars, a director and crew, along with a good story, and nothing has caught my eye till now.” She adds, “It’s not just about work that I am choosy. Ever since I can remember, I have been this way about everything.”

What kind of work is the actress looking out for? “I want something different; something that interests me. I am keen on playing the role of a village girl or a simple girl, which will be a contrast to the usual glamourous roles that I play,” she says. She adds, “I believe in quality and not quantity. Even if I do one or two films, I am happy as long as the audience is happy.”

The actress, who started her career as a model, says acting is her passion. “It is different from catwalking and modelling. Although acting seems very glamourous, there is more to it than that. It is hard work and they are two very different things,” she says. She adds, “I’m enjoying, what I’m doing. I don’t come from a ‘filmi’ background but I have good experience.”

Deepika describes herself as a “fun-loving person who is friendly and full of life”. She says, “My fans call me ‘tharle’ because I’m so naughty. When people meet me first, they think I have a lot of attitude but I’m very bubbly. I like pulling people’s legs, I tease them all the time and I don’t behave according to the situation.” Speaking about her experiences on ‘Bigg Boss...’, she says, “It was good. I learnt a lot — most importantly, I learnt how to be patient and tolerant. I didn’t expect to stay for more than a few weeks but my fans helped me last that long.”
