Sub-Inspector arrested for taking bribe of Rs 50,000

A Delhi Police sub-inspector has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

CBI claimed that accused Dayaram, who was posted with Chanakyapuri police station, has been caught red-handed.

In his complaint, the victim alleged that Dayaram had threatened to implicate him by labelling him as a member of a manpower racket. The accused was the investigating officer of the manpower racket case.

Wait for hours
CBI spokesperson R K Gaur said Dayaram would often summon the victim to the police station on the pretext of interrogation and would make him wait for hours.

“The victim claims that he had no link with the accused in the case and the policeman was trying to frame him,” Gaur added.

Deal negotiated
Dayaram had demanded Rs 4 lakh from the complainant. He negotiated the amount and informed the CBI.

“On his complaint, a case was registered and investigations taken up,” Gaur said.
Police then laid a trap and Dayaram was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 from the complainant.

He was arrested near Moti Bagh Gurdwara and searches were also conducted at his home on Thursday.

On Friday, Dayaram was produced before a special judge of CBI at Patiala House Court.
