Vivek's fiver keeps Karnataka in check

Karnataka got off to disastrous start as they were bundled out for 169 on the opening day of the Cooch Behar Trophy against Saurashtra here on Saturday.

Put into bat, the Karnataka colts did not have good start as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

The home side had no answer to the onslaught of Saurashtra’s Vivek A as he ended up with the figures of 51-7. VR Milind top-scored for the home side with 58 before falling prey to Vivek, while Sujith N Gowda chipped in 45, before handing out a catch to Samarth Vyas.

The duo piled up a useful partnership of 59 runs after Karnataka were left struggling at 39 for four in 12.2 overs.

Gohil Tejpalsingh, Vihar Singh Jadeja and Priyajit Chudasama bagged a wicket apiece for Saurashtra.

In reply, the visitors were comfortably placed at 80 for one in 33 overs at the end of day’s proceedings with opener Jashmin S unbeaten on 49.

Priyahit Chudasama was the only causality for Saurashtra. He was dismissed for eight by Shimon Luiz.
