JOIN USA whopping 82 per cent of 45,000 NGOs with permission to receive foreign contribution are yet to submit their accounts with the Union home ministry as the deadline is to end in a month.
According to statistics, as on November 15, only 8,636 NGOs have submitted the details of foreign funds they received during 2013-14. These NGOs have received Rs 3,784.04 crore in the last fiscal.
While 1,815 NGOs had submitted the details till June, only 6,821 NGOs submitted the details in the next four and half months. In the fiscal 2013-14, Tamil Nadu NGOs have netted the highest foreign contribution at Rs 546.64 crore (for 1,344 NGOs) followed by Andhra Pradesh Rs 480.37 crore (1,022 NGOs) and Kerala Rs 385.crore (951). Karnataka came sixth with 594 NGOs submitting accounts for receipt of Rs 356.29 crore.
