Two die as lorry runs them over

Two persons on a two-wheeler were mowed down when a driver lost control over his lorry after one of the rear tyres burst, near HG Palya under Magadi police limits on Sunday.

According to the police, the victims have been identified as Manu and Girish, both aged around 30 and from Mandya.

They were returning from Chunchunagiri after attending a function, when a lorry heading towards Kunigal ran over their two-wheeler, killing both Manu and Girish on the spot, the police said.

The passersby rushed them to a nearby hospital and the doctors declared them brought dead, added the police.

The police have seized the lorry and are trying to trace the driver who is absconding.The victims worked at a petrol bunk in the City, the police said.

Prostitution racket busted

The Central Crime Branch sleuths busted a prostitution racket after they raided an apartment on Double Road at Indiranagar on Sunday. Three women from West Bengal were rescued and the suspect, Kumar alias Praveen alias Sanjay, is absconding, police said.
