Warming up to their music

The Electronic Dance Music (EDM) scenario in the City is attaining new heights day by day.  EDM bands have been welcomed with open arms.

One such band, ‘Klypp’, is an alternative electronica band who are eager to experiment. The Bengaluru-based duo, who started their journey six months ago, comprises Faheem Hasan and Karthik Basker. The band takes the listeners to intricate yet friendly soundscapes.

‘Klypp’ was informally formed when Karthik, former frontman of Bengaluru psychedelic/alternative band ‘The Bicycle Days’ and Faheem, a former guitarist for the progressive metal band ‘Eccentric Pendulum’, met at a workshop conducted by British electronica DJ ‘State of Bengal’. Soon after, Karthik went onto announce that the band would go on an “indefinite break”, with the members planning to take up other projects. After the workshops, the two decided to start a band and ever since, there has been no stopping them.

Faheem and Karthik are self-taught artistes. The former is a music producer, a guitar player and a keyboard artiste while Karthik is a singer, guitarist and a composer. The duo face a lot of challenges. “Making ends meet and popularising our kind of music is the biggest challenge,” adds Karthik.

Their first EP, ‘Manifest’, comprises a song track list like ‘Be’, ‘Dissolution’, ‘Thoughts’, ‘ Weather’ and ‘Stream Manifest Below’. The underlying theme of these songs include self-realisation, peace and human drama. Their music is mainly inspired by nature, love and peace.

Despite being together for just a span of six months, the duo has played at the New Wave Festival in Goa, NH7 Weekender Bengaluru, Kitsch Mandi and more. They recently performed at NH7 but found the whole  experience very uninspiring.

The band has garnered numerous fans who get a real feel of experimental and fresh music. Viraaj Arora, a fan, says “I loved the song ‘Be’, it is fresh and new. ‘Klypp’ is the band which was waiting to be introduced to the City as their genre of music is now picking up pace and the audience too have warmed up to this genre.”
