10 lakh jobs in 5 years, says Labour Minister

Speaking at a press meet on the sidelines of State-level 10th ITI NSS students leadership training camp at Sri Parivara Panchalingeshwara ITI at Ninthikallu, he said in the government sponsored employment and skill mela, as many as 1,79,000 persons have been given training according to their educational qualification. About 80,000 are undergoing training. The government is spending Rs 4 crore for the purpose.

Enployment Exchange centres have become HRD centres in the State. Students residing in the hostels run by Social Welfare department will be trained in computer, English, commerce and other subjects.

Speaking after inaugurating the State-level 10th ITI NSS students leadership training camp, he said NSS will be extended to all the 1,200 ITIs in the State. Only 300 ITIs have NSS programme.

Several programmes of the Labour department is not reaching the eligible beneficiaries. The department has given financial assistance to 90 lakh BPL card holders, 725 patients in Bangalore, Dakshina Kannada, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Shimoga districts, he added.

MLA Mallika Prasad hoisted the flag. MLA S Angara presided. Sullia Taluk Panchayat President Pushpavathi Balila, ZP Member Chandrashekar Kamath and others were present.
