All districts will have 'Jana Sanjeevini' centres within 3 months, says Khader

'Generic and pharmacy centres will offer 10 pc discount'

Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader has said that ‘Jana Sanjeevini’ generic medicine and 24x7 pharmacy centres, which would provide medicines at 10 per cent discount rate will be established in all the district and taluk government hospitals within three months.

Speaking to mediapersons at Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday, he said Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with HLL under public private partnership (PPP) for the implementation of the project.

The firm has identified land in all district hospitals and single floor structure has been approved. The firm will start construction work at district hospitals.

The Minister said that in ‘Jana Sanjeevini’ centres general public can avail medicines at an affordable price. Unlike the current situation, people need not search for private medicals for medicines prescribed by the government doctors, as the medicine will be available within the hospital premises.

Meanwhile, he said that the government is planning to start a diagnosis centre and surgical implant outlet in district government hospitals which would provide services like MRI scan, CT scan, implant, hi-tech pathology lab etc. The rates have been fixed during the MoU and public would get upto 50 per cent discount on these services.

The Minister said that the health department would try its level best to get nod for the proposal on a government medical college in Mangaluru. Around 100 acre of land is available near Kulashekar. However there is no hospital to meet the norms. So, the department is considering of building the college near District Wenlock Hospital, he said.

On a suggestion to direct private medical institutions to give free treatment to poor, Khader said that government will reimburse the treatment offered to the poor patients.

‘Danta Bhagya’

The Minister said that Chief Siddaramaiah will inaugurate ‘Danta Bhagya’, a new scheme of the health department for senior citizen at Banquet Hall in Bengaluru on December 6.
