TN transfers several IAS officers

In a major reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday transferred several IAS officers including appointing senior bureaucrat K Gnanadesikan as the new chief secretary of the state.

  Gnanadesikan was appointed in place of Mohan Verghese Chunkath, who was  transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary and Director, Anna Institute of Management. Gnanadesikan was Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited. 

The government also transferred Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Secretary N S Palaniappan and posted him as PWD Secretary. Official communication from the Home Department said that Revenue Department Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi was transferred and posted as Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Secretary.

R Venkatesan, hitherto Commissioner of Town and Country Planning, was transferred and posted as the new Revenue Department Secretary.Nasimuddin, Secretary, Youth Welfare and Sports Development was shifted and posted as Secretary for Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection Department in place of M P Nirmala, who was placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation for appointment as its Principal Secretary/Chairperson and Managing Director.

Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, Commissioner, Government Data Centre was transferred and posted as Housing and Urban Development Department Secretary in place of Mohan Pyare, posted as Secretary, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department.
