Director KS Ravikumar's much-awaited movie 'Lingaa' starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead in legal trouble yet again. A junior script writer on Friday moved a City Civil Court against the release of the movie alleging plagiarism.

Petitioner P Sathivel has alleged 'Lingaa' is completely based on his script 'Uyir Anai', a story he drafted inspired by the life of John Pennycuick, who built the Mullaperiyar dam in 19th century.

Sathivel added that he had registered his script with the Film and Producer’s Guild of South India on July 23, 2012. The Petitioner alleging that story writer of 'Lingaa' has "misused" his script, said he was surprised and shocked to know that the film is based on his script of 'Uyir Anai' .

He also asked for a permanent injunction against the release of the film, which is set to release next week, requesting Advocate Commissioner to compare the scripts of 'Lingaa' and 'Uyir Anai' .

Admitting the petition, the bench issued notices to producer and director and deferred the next hearing on Dec 9.

Last month, another petitioner and filmmaker KR Ravi Rathinam had moved the Mandras High Court alleging that the makers of 'Lingaa' had stolen the storyline of yet-to-be released ‘Mullai Vanam 999’ , which is produced by the former.

However, the Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Wednesday quashed Rathinam's petition to stay on the release of the film.

Besides Rajinikanth, 'Lingaa' also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty among others. The film will release on Dec 12.
