HC orders demolition of building on Richmond Rd

The High Court on Monday directed BBMP to adhere to its (BBMP’s) order to demolish a four-storey under-construction building located on Richmond Road, adjacent to the Rustumji Residency Owners Association complex.

Justice Ram Mohan Reddy asked the Palike officers to implement the demolition order passed by them on August 3 and to report on the demolition drive to the court on Wednesday.

The petitioners, Rustumji Residency Owners Association, had contended that the building adjacent to their apartment complex was being constructed in violation of the sanctioned plan.

After a complaint was lodged with it, the Palike issued a notice to the builders, inspected the building and found several violations in the sanctioned plan.

BBMP also ordered demolition of the building on August 3. However, the order was not implemented.
