5,000 march in support of the disabled

Over 5,000 people including disabled persons participated in the annual Walkathon organised by Samarthana Trust for the Disabled marking its 10th anniversary in the City on Saturday.

Around 12,000 people also registered expressing their support for the disabled. Participants covered a four-kilometer stretch. City In-charge and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy also participated. The Blind Cricket Team which won the World Cup recently in South Africa was honoured. Samarthana also launched its cleanliness project under which the disabled will recycle dry waste into products to be sold.
