Deadline for school registration extended to December 20

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has extended the deadline for schools to register with it from December 8 to December 20.

As per the department’s calender of events, the original deadline was October 31. But some schools moved the High Court after the government issued a circular on November 11 stipulating the revised registration fee and the revised regulations for school registration. The court then ordered the government to extend the deadline. Giving more time for schools to register, the department has now extended the deadline to December 20.

The Associated Managements of Government Recognised English Medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has requested all school managements to pay the requisite fee as directed by the High Court and register before the deadline. “Some people misled schools that there was no need for paying the registration fee. We request all schools to register by paying the requisite fee,” KAMS president Shashi Kumar D told Deccan Herald.

Meanwhile, a three-member committee formed by the DPI has identified 1,050 unauthorised schools across Karnataka. The DPI would soon issue notices to these schools. The Deputy Directors of Public Instruction too are in the process of updating the list of illegal schools in their districts.
