Apollo Hospitals to invest Rs 150 crore

Integrated healthcare provider group Apollo Hospitals on Monday announced plans to invest Rs 150 crore in Karnataka, increasing its capacity to 1,000 beds from the current 850 beds by 2016.

Apollo Hospitals has already invested Rs 500 crore in setting up the present three hospitals in the State.

As part of its plans, Apollo Hospitals is planning to start yet another super speciality hospital in Malleshwaram, Bengaluru, by next year. Apollo Hospitals Malleshwaram will be a 200-bed hospital with over 50 specialties and super-specialties. The 50-bedded critical care unit will be back by e-ICU services, which is the latest innovation in healthcare. Experts will have the ability to monitor a critical care patient in real time from a remote command centre in the City.

The new facility will offer a complete range of diagnostic services including a 128-slice CT scan, 1.5T 18 channel MRI and high-end 4D ultra-sonography among others. The emergency services will be operational 24X7 and the operation theatres contain adequate post-op facilities.

According to Apollo Group of Hospitals Chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy said, “Karnataka has been on top of the medical tourism map which is being extensively promoted by Apollo Hospitals. We have generated about Rs 100 crore in precious foreign exchange for the government. Our hope is that with newer facilities, we will not only be able to reach more patients in the State but attract more patients from Asian countries as well.”
