One dead, 4 injured in car-bus collision

A 50-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a head-on-collision between a car and a BMTC bus near Rajanukunte on the outskirts of the City on Sunday evening.

The deceased was identified as Prabhakar, a resident of Kodigehalli, off Ballari Road. The injured—Dr Gerald, Vasanthi, Susheela and Benny—are being treated at a private hospital in Yelahanka. They are said to be out of danger.

According to the police, the accident occurred at 5 pm when the victims were returning home after visiting a relative in Doddaballapur in Bengaluru Rural district. A speeding BMTC driver lost control over the bus and ploughed it into the car coming from the opposite direction.

Prabhakar, who was at the wheel, sustained massive injuries, and died, the police said. The driver has been arrested and the bus seized, the police added.
