Water tanker topples, labourer killed

A 20-year-old labourer was killed on the spot, while two others were injured when a water tanker attached to a tractor on which they were travelling, turned turle at Kembatthalli in KS Layout traffic police limits on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Bittu, a native of Bihar. Hyder Ali and Ashraff, who sustained injuries, are being treated at a private hospital, said the police.
The police said that the three were working at a construction site on Royal County Main Road near Jamboo Savari Dinne, and stayed in makeshift sheds nearby.

Sitting on tanker

While returning from a provision store, they noticed the tractor going towards Royal County Main Road and hitchhiked, the police said. All the three were sitting on the tanker, added the police.

As the speeding driver swerved during a turn at Kembatthalli, the tanker got separated from the engine, resulting in the victims falling off and the tanker turning upside down, the police said.

Bittu came under the tanker and was killed on the spot, while Ashraf and Hyder Ali were injured, the police added. A case has been registered against the driver, said the police.
