Last Updated 04 January 2011, 19:15 IST

Around 500 calendars, in both English and Kannada, were released on the occasion of World Louis Braille Day, which marks the birth of Louis Braille who created Braille.

A visually challenged person can read the date, months and holidays by running his/her hand around the six dotted Braille transcripts.

However, IDL Founder P K Paul said that there was an urgent need for Braille printing press in Bangalore.

“We printed 250 Kannada calendars in Mysore and another 250 in English in Chennai,” he said.

The calendars are available free of cost at IDL Foundation office in Mathikere. For details contact 93425 30290.
