The recently-held ‘Garage Jam’ was a special one for thrash metal band ‘Abaddon’. They not only got to perform at the event, that took place at Sonido Musicals, but also released their first demo album titled ‘Son Of Hell’. The album consists of five original compositions by the band.

The show started with the opening act ‘Counterplot Theory’ who set the tone for the rest of the night. They played many of their own compositions such as ‘Confessions of a Dangerous Mind’ and ‘The Impossibility of Reason’ and went on to reveal two of their tracks, that were completed recently — ‘Capgras Syndrome’ and an instrumental titled ‘Paradox’.

The band also played a cover of ‘City Of God’, a song by German thrash/black metal band ‘Sodom’. Akshay Sharma, the band’s vocalist and bassist, held everyone mesmerised with his talent. The band’s guitarist and backing vocalist Vishesh Bhyrav did the same.

By the end of the performance, the place was packed and artistes from popular bands like ‘Kryptos’ and ‘Lucid Dreams’ were also present.

Abaddon was formed in 2012 by long-time college mates Jehosh Gershom and Akash Ponanna. Akash plays the lead guitar while Jehosh plays as the bassist and vocalist, Naag Bharath is the band’s rhythm guitarist and Samarth Hegde performs as the drummer for the band. They started of with a strong and powerful song ‘Phobia’, which instantly made heads swing back and forth. ‘Terror In The Eyes Of God’ was about the recent incident that took place in Peshawar.

They went on to play more compositions from the album like ‘Rise of The Undead’. Post this, a short rendition called ‘Violent Sage’ followed. The band proceeded to play the remaining two tracks of their album namely ‘Destruction Completes Creation’ and a war-inspired track ‘BulletEye’.

‘Abaddon’ closed the show with a crowd favourite, a cover of a track by American thrash metal band ‘Slayer’. The performance was so intense that a part of the crowd even tried to form a mosh pit in the garage.
