NPS students hurt as stage collapses during rehearsal

At least five students of National Public School (NPS), Indiranagar sustained minor injuries on Monday while

rehearsing for a sporting event scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

The stage was built with multiple rows for the event. The topmost row came crashing down during a rehearsal injuring children, said a parent.

A senior official from east division who visited the school after the incident said: “Between three to five children have sustained minor injuries. So far no one has registered any complaints without which we cannot proceed. However if in case anyone files a complaint, we will take the necessary action.”

The injured were shifted to the nearby CMH hospitals and Manipal Hospital soon after the accident. A resident who lives near the school said that he saw an ambulance rushing the injured to the hospital.

K P Gopalkrishna, Chairman, NPS, said: “The stage had not been completed and most of the children who were rehearsing at that time were from standard seven. It is nothing serious and we will be carrying on with the event as scheduled.”
