Youth caught for murdering 16-yr-old boy

A youth has been arrested for shooting dead a 16-year-old boy in east Delhi less than a week ago. The victim had been accidentally shot as the bullet was meant for another person, police said on Monday.

During interrogation, accused Rahul was found to be involved in three cases of robbery and snatchings. Three pistols and three knives were recovered from him following his arrest on Sunday, said police in a release.

The murder took place in Ajeet Nagar on December 16 evening. Police had received a call about a boy being shot at. Mumtaz Ansari was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chander Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Mumtaz’s friend Manish Sharma, who was with him at the time of the murder, told police two boys were involved in scuffle outside a small electronic shop where the victim worked as a television mechanic.

Suddenly, one of the youths pulled out a pistol and fired a shot at the other. The bullet missed its mark and hit Mumtaz who was standing behind.
The accused had managed to escape then but was finally arrested on Sunday.
