Last Updated 23 December 2014, 12:20 IST

Cyberabad police has reviewed security of information technology companies here, particularly local offices of US-headquartered ones in the wake of the country-wide general terror alert issued by the Centre ahead of new year.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said many decoy teams are also doing rounds in crowded places, including malls, as a precautionary measure even as security has been stepped up in and around the international airport at Shamshabad here.

"General alertness and sensitisation of offices to this terror threat has been done. The public sensitisation process is underway. We are alert about this," he told reporters today.

Asked specifically about terror threat to multinational software companies at IT corridor in Madhapur and Gachibowli, among others, he said, "There will always be some input about such things."

Along with Society for Cyberabad Security Council (formed by IT industry), police has reviewed security of most of these companies, which also have their own internal security set-up.

"Police has reviewed that security too, especially of some American-based companies... we have taken special care of," Anand said.

"Yes, there is a country-wide alert which we have got. We are very alert about it. We have the international airport at Shamshabad here and have beefed up the security there. We have again started playing the terror alerts (cautioning public) in all public places and junctions," he added.
