National Children's Science Congress on Saturday

The National Children’s Science Congress of 2014 will be organised in Bengaluru from  December 27. The five-day event will be held at SJB Institute of Technology, BGS Health and Education City, Kengeri, Bengaluru.

The National Children’s Science Congress will be held for students between 10 and 17 years-old. The event is being hosted by the Karnataka Rajya Vijanna Parishat (KRVP).

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be inaugurating the event at 10.30 am on December 27, with Union Minister for Science Technology Harshavardhan being the chief guest. Noted scientist C N R Rao is expected to deliver the keynote address, State IT and S&T Minister S R Patil said.

A three-tier programme
The National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) has been a nation-wide programme held annually since 1993. It is co-ordinated by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication, functioning under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology, Government  of India, New Delhi. It is implemented as a three-tier programme at the district, state and the national-levels.

The principle theme for the Science Congress this year is, “Understanding Weather and Climate.” 

Nearly 700 projects from across the country are expected to be presented by the students and 300 teachers from across the country are expected to accompany the children, the minister said. The event will also showcase cultural events in the evening, with mornings being dedicated to Congress seminars and competitions.
