Central offices in Bengaluru to stay shut

Last Updated 24 December 2014, 20:17 IST

Central government offices in the City may give Good Governance Day a miss. With none of the offices receiving any written circular, officials are expected to deem it a holiday.

At All India Council for Technical Education, employees were in a tizzy over whether the Centre has given them day off or not. Principal Accountant General’s office said it was not aware that City offices were to be open. Most departments, zonal heads, it is learnt, were given the liberty issue circular in case they wanted to observe Good Governance Day. However, BJP MPs Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda and Venkaiah Naidu, in keeping with the Centre’s diktat, will begin the day with a seminar on Good Governance at K G Road.

Later, they are expected to take part in Swacchata Abhiyaan on Avenue Road. MLAs R Ashoka and Ashwath Narayan have scheduled programmes of awareness in their constituencies.
