BJP leader threatens his political opponents

BJP leader Dudhkumar Mondal has threatened his political opponents that people will sever their hands if any more atrocity is committed on the party's workers for quitting Trinamool Congress.

"I ask the TMC attackers of our partymen in the district to please stop coming out of homes and laying hands on BJP workers. Take away your hand. Otherwise, the people will cut your hands," Mondal, who is BJP's Birbhum district president, said at a meeting here on the occasion of 'Good Governance Day' yesterday.

Mondal, however, was quick to add that, "We believe in non-violence. We don't preach violent means. We believe in democratic values and principles."

He alleged that BJP workers were being threatened in their homes, targeted and attacked in different parts of Birbhum district for leaving TMC though elections had not been announced.

In a dig at the district TMC leadership, he said, "We don't have Monirum Islam and Anubrata Mondal in our party. We are a responsible party to bring better governance in the country. We believe in peaceful politics."

TMC's Bribhum district President Anubrata Mondal, when contacted, said "Our hands are made of unbreakable iron. None can harm us."

Anubrata, who has been in the centre of controversy for his comments on political opponents in the past, said he has asked local leaders of TMC to formally complain to the police with recordings of the speech.

Police, however, said no complaint has so far been lodged.BJP had earlier complained against alleged 'unsavoury comments' and words used by Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, party MP Kalyan Bandyopadhyay in their public speeches.
