Vistara offers special passenger services

Vistara, which is hitting the skies on January 9, has many innovative marketing techniques to attract passengers and keep rivals on their toes.

The airline has an innovative pricing strategy where it tries to maximise its revenue while giving customers more options on their flying experience.

It is offering a new cabin class, premium economy, in addition to business class and economy class. Vistara’s 148 seater A320-200 planes will have 16 business class seats, 36 premium economy class and 96 economy class. Usually, full service carriers in India have two classes.

With the introduction of premium economy class, industry watchers say, Vistara is trying to tap frequent flying mid-level professionals who are not entitled to business class travel as per their company rules.

By paying extra than the economy class, the premium economy fliers can “enjoy extra space and ample legroom along with longer armrests, winged leather headrests and individual coat hooks”. Business class passengers will have heigh adjustable headrests along with personal storage space.

“Our journey has been a rollercoaster ride. A full service is more than free food while flying and we are offering personalised seamless travelling experience,” Vistara CEO Phee Teik Yeoh said.

Another highlight of the new airline is a special dining experience using fresh and locally sourced ingredients to prepare healthy meals to ensure that passengers arrive at their destination feeling light and fresh, said Giam Ming Toh, Chief Commercial Officer of Vistara.

The menus will change every week and will only reappear every 4 weeks to continuously offer new dining experiences for frequent travellers, he said. A choice of two non-vegetarian and one vegetarian meal will be offered in business and premium economy, while in economy there will be a choice of one each.
