A delegation led by Infrastructure Development minister R Roshan Baig will meet the Union Civil Aviation Minister, P A Gajapathi Raju, to discuss developing various airports in the State.

Baig said airports in Mysuru, Hubballi, Shivamogga, Ballari, Bidar and Vijayapura were being planned to be developed. “One of our aims is to extend the runway of the Mangaluru airport. We intend to fill the deep gorge at the end of the runway with mud. The expansion of Hubbali airport is nearing completion and it only requires certain clearances from the Centre. We will also discuss the Bidar airport issue,” he said.

Baig also said that the government was seriously considering Mono and Metro train systems for other cities in the State. At present, Metro rail is being considered for Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru and Mysuru, he added.
