Truckers oppose new curbs

Hundreds of trucks and lorries may go off the roads to protest the restricted timings for heavy vehicles on City roads from January 1 between 6 am and 10 pm, if the rule is implemented.

However, the lorry associations are divided on observing the strike.

All India Motor Transport Congress Chairman G R Shanmugappa said the new rule was not required as there are already enough rules to restrict the movement of heavy vehicles in the City and if it is implemented, the services will be adversely affected.
