BJP puts off national executive meet in B'luru

The BJP has indefinitely postponed its three-day national executive and national office-bearers’ meetings scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from January 19, State BJP spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said on Monday.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be busy making preparations for Republic Day celebrations for which US President Barack Obama will be the chief guest. Hence it has been decided to postpone the meetings. But the decision has got nothing to do with the blast in Bengaluru, he added.

The party sources said the national executive and the office-bearers’ meetings are likely to be held in mid-February in Bengaluru. However, there has been no change in the scheduled visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to Bengaluru on January 3. Shah will attend the party State executive meeting on that day, besides conducting a review of the membership drive in the State.
