KMF mulls over milk price hike

The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is planning to seek a hike in prices of milk by Rs 3 to 4 per litre, Cooperation Minister H S Mahadev Prasad said on Tuesday.


Speaking to reporters, he said the KMF has drafted a resolution and that the State government will take an appropriate decision after receiving the proposal. 

“We have received information that the KMF may ask for a hike in milk prices by Rs 3 to 4. The KMF is of the view that milk prices in the State is the lowest, compared to many other states in the country,” the minister said. Prasad said the proposal is still in the nascent stage and that the government will exercise caution before giving its nod.

According to KMF officials, the proposal is yet to be approved by the KMF board.
