Traffic, parking curbs on New Year's Eve

Traffic police have imposed several parking and traffic restrictions in and around M G Road during New Year's revelry.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B Dayananda said vehicular movement and parking will be restricted from Wednesday evening till next day morning.

Further, he said, special teams have been formed to keep a check on wheeling and drag racing in City.

“We have formed around 80 teams for this purpose. The teams will be headed by sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors. If under-aged motorists found indulging in wheeling and drag racing then their parents will be booked under the provisons of Motor Vehicle rules. The drive against drunk and drive will also be conducted throughout the City. We request public to call us on either 100 or 103 on spotting revelers creating trouble,” Dayananda said. 

Traffic police have restricted vehicular movement from 8 pm on Wednesday till next day 1 am on M G Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, St Mark’s Road, Rest House Road and Residency Road.

Parking has also been banned on these roads from 4 pm on Wednesday until 3 am next day.

Likewise, vehicular movement on fly-overs, except on elevated Expressway to Airport, from 9 pm on Wednesday till 6 am on Thursday has been restricted, Dayananda said adding only light motor vehicles will be allowed on Expressway.

n Vehicles from Queen’s Statue junction on M G Road, proceeding towards Ulsoor can turn left at Anil Kumble Circle, at B R V Junction, turn right into Cubbon road and proceed to Webb’s junction.

n Vehicles moving towards Cantonment area, from Ulsoor can turn right near Trinity Circle and enter Ulsoor Road, turn left on Dickenson Road and proceed towards Cubbon Road.
n Pedestrians can walk from M G Road to Opera junction on Brigade Road. Walking in the opposite direction is not allowed.

They can walk through Residency Road Cross, near Shankar Nag Theatre cross, to reach M G Road.

n Parking has been arranged on both sides of Kamaraj Road from Kamaraj Road junction to Commercial Street junction and first floor BMTC Complex at Shivajinagar Bus Stand area.
