Three persons have been arrested for impersonating policemen by carrying a fake identity card of Delhi Police. They told police that they had got the fake card made to enable them to move hasslefree in the city.

The brother-in-law of the person holding the card was found to be Delhi Police Head Constable Sayeed Akhtar. “The accused had prepared the fake identity card after scanning his brother-in-law’s card,” said police.

Police are probing if the actual policeman was aware of the fraud.
The fraud came to light when two policemen were patrolling IP Estate on Monday afternoon. They found three men standing near a car that was filled with blankets. On finding their behaviour suspicious, police asked them for their introductions.

All three claimed they were policemen. When asked to prove their identities, one of them who was later identified as Nawab Malik produced a police identity card.

One of the policemen immediately asked him for his personal information system (PIS) number about which he had no clue, said police in a release on Tuesday.

The identity card was immediately verified with the concerned police department and it was found to be fake.

A case of forgery and impersonation was subsequently registered with Madhu Vihar police station.

The accused who was carrying the ID card earlier had a milk supply business, but turned to selling blankets after suffering losses.
