NC says ready to support PDP

The National Conference (NC) on Wednesday said it was ready to give arch-rival People's Democratic Party (PDP) unconditional support in writing for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Some leaders of PDP claim they have not received any verbal or written message from the NC offering unconditional support. Let me inform them that communication from Omar Abdullah has gone to Mufti (Mohammad Sayeed) 'sahib', in which he has clearly offered unconditional support,” said NC Jammu provincial president and Omar’s trusted lieutenant Devendra Singh Rana.

“If the PDP responds to our call, we are ready to give (our support) in writing. If the PDP forms government with the NC's support, it will be beneficial for all three regions of the sate and the government will run as per people's aspirations,” he claimed.

Omar had on December 23 offered to support the PDP in forming a government, after the polls threw up a fractured mandate. However, the PDP had the next day asked Omar to come up with a written assurance on his support.
