During investigation, police learnt that a woman who had no child of her own for the last 15 years of her married life was suddenly in possession of a baby boy she claimed was her son.

Once the information was verified, a raid was conducted at the woman’s house in Jaffarpur Kalan area and the boy recovered. Sarita was immediately arrested. At her instance, her accomplice Soniya too was nabbed. Sarita allegedly planned the child theft with Soniya as she was childless.

The boy was born at Rao Tula Ram Hospital in the area on December 23 to Gurgaon-based woman Geeta. The woman was still admitted to the hospital on December 26 when she was visited by a woman dressed as a nurse.

The mother and her husband had soon became friendly with the accused woman as they indulged in a conversation. Some time later, the woman volunteered to look after the baby and asked the mother to take a stroll and the father to fetch medicines from the market.
