Fog continues to disrupt life in Capital

The Capital recorded a slight dip in the minimum temperature on Sunday even though it was recorded five notches above normal.

However, fog conditions continued to disrupt trains and flights and are likely to continue on Monday. As many as 44 trains due to arrive here were delayed and two trains were rescheduled due to fog in the morning, according to a bulletin issued by the Northern Railways. The trains running late included Kolkata Rajdhani, Karnataka Express, Jhelum Express, Utkal Express, Mahakaushal Express, Goa Express, Ashram Express and Sampark Kranti, among others. 

The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 19 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 12 degree Celsius, five notches above normal. The maximum humidity was recorded at 100 per cent and the minimum at 59 per cent.

Three flights were delayed due to weather conditions. “No flights were cancelled or diverted due to Delhi weather conditions. During low visibility procedure, 55 flights were conducted using instrument landing system,” said an airport authority official.

The strong winds during the day helped maintain visibility, said an Met official.
“The day temperature will be above normal on Monday as well. However, the night temperature is likely to fall in the next 48 hours. From Tuesday, the fog will clear off.

However, there is likely to be a fresh spell of fog from January 8,” said R K Jenamani, Director, Met department, IGIA.
