Three-day Horticulture Mela at Lalbagh from January 9

Lalbagh Botanical Garden will be hosting the 9th Horticulture Mela, “Sangama - 2015,” for three days from January 9 to 11.

S P Shadakshariswami, Director, Horticulture department, said here on Tuesday that a variety of native and foreign fruits, vegetables, flowers and other modern agricultural material will be on display and sale at the mela. The mela will be inaugurated at the Mysuru Kala Sangha in Lalbagh.

The event will see a gathering of farmers, agriculturalists, horticulturists, vendors, scientists and buyers on one platform. Conferences will be held to discuss about emerging technologies and market trends. Over a 100 farmers from various parts of the country, like Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala,  Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Haryana, West Bengal and Bihar are expected to take part. Farmers from across the State will also be attending.

As many60 stalls have been set up and entry is free for visitors. There will be no parking restrictions at the venue, the director said. A variety of fruits, dry fruits, spices, indigenous and native flowers, will be on display.

Seeds of all types of fruits, vegetables and flowering plants will also be on sale. Local, hybrid and foreign varieties of vegetables will also be available.
