Mercedes-Benz plans 15 new car launches this year

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India has announced plans to introduce 15 cars in India this year, which include those with no comparable models in the country.


The idea follows the company’s growth strategy for 2015. ‘Live The BEST’ will be the new driving philosophy for Mercedes-Benz India in 2015, Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Eberhard Kern said. The company claimed that the 15 new launches are part of Mercedes-Benz India’s biggest product initiative till date

The product launches will be supplemented with a robust network expansion during the year, with another 15 outlets being inaugurated in mature as well as tier-II and tier-III cities, in continuation with the strategy of ‘best touch points’.

The company is also expanding its operations, with an additional investment for capacity expansion in the Chakan Plant, taking the total spend to over Rs 1,000 crore. The extended facility will begin production by June of 2015, following which, the plant will have a capacity of 20,000 units per year, the largest for any luxury car manufacturer.
