People throng 'Bahuroopi' at Rangayana on festival day

Sankranti rush marked the third day of ‘Bahuroopi-2015’ National Theatre Fest at Rangayana in the city on Thursday. Owing to the holiday, the repertory saw theatre lovers, art connoisseurs and also shoppers thronging the otherwise silent environs, especially after dusk.

During the day, films ‘In Search of Shakespeare - 2’ directed by Micheal wood, ‘Titus’, directed by Julie Taymor, and Roman Polonski’s ‘Macbeth’, were screened to a packed audience at Sriranga.

‘Ayadaan’, the Marathi play staged by Avishkar and Anjar troupe from Pune, at Bhoomigeetha saw select audience. As anticipated, ‘Maranayaka’, a play inspired by ‘Macbeth’ and staged by Sankalpa troupe of the select inmates of Central Prisons Mysore at Kalamandira in the evening session, turned out to be the showstopper. The artistes unveiled a melange of art forms like ‘Puja Kunita’, ‘Jaggalige’, ‘Karaga Kunita’, Neelagarara Mela’ and ‘Kolata’ at Vanaranga.

The ubiquitous book sellers, food vendors and garment vendors did good business, through the exhibition cum sale of garments, books, handicrafts, and also food spread over 40 odd stalls at the parking lot.
