Two arrested for cricket betting

City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two persons on charge of cricket betting and have recovered Rs 1.42 lakh and cellphones from them.

The duo identified as Raghu, aged 30 years and resident of Vidyanagar and D Prakash, 36, Rammanahalli in Mysuru were indulging in the illegal activity near a school on Azeez Sait double road (Mahadevapura road) on January 14, when the policemen apprehended them.

The duo had in their possession Rs 1.42 lakh betting amount collected from different parties.
The case has been referred to Udaygiri police for further investigation.
The police team was led by Inspectors H T Suneel Kumar, P A Sooraj and R Jagadish among others.

Cleaner held
A cleaner of an earth moving vehicle who had decamped with the batteries of heavy vehicles and  a two-wheeler belonging to his employer from Koppa village in Bylakuppe police limits, was arrested on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Raju alias Hussein, son of Sanaulla Ansari, aged 21 years. He was arrested near Kushalnagar bus stand in Kodagu district around 6.30 am. A native of Maganpura village, Ramgarh district and Jharkand State, Raju was working as a cleaner with K K Keerthi, a transport operator, at Koppa village, Mysuru district.

Raju had made away with the batteries of tipper lorry and earth moving vehicle worth Rs 20,000, along with the motorbike worth Rs 20,000, on the night of January 9.

Following a complaint from Keerthi at Bylakuppe station, Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare had formed a team of police personnel under the leadership of Assistant SP of Nanjangud sub-division, Nikam Amrith Prakash, also in-charge additional SP, that succeeded in nabbing the accused. The stolen goods have also been recovered.
