Defending champions Jharkhand take on Orissa in the first of the last-four contests at the M Visvevaraya stadium on Thursday, while three-time champions Karnataka, after having fought their way into the knock out stage, clash with Mizoram on Friday.

Karnataka, who started off their quarterfinal league stage with a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Punjab, bounced back in style to edge Jharkhand 1-0 before securing their semis berth with a 3-0 win over Tamil Nadu.

Showering praise on his young lads, Karnataka coach Saravanan said the team displayed good mettle after the Punjab loss. “We knew we had to win big against Tamil Nadu in the final quarterfinal league game as victory for Jharkhand over Punjab will bring the goal difference into picture. And, that is how it happened,” said Saravanan.

“However, the boys did a great job in pulling off a superb win over Tamil Nadu and are eagerly waiting for the semifinals.”
