The BJP on Tuesday paraded local party leaders in support of its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, who is contesting from the BJP stronghold of Krishna Nagar Assembly constituency in east Delhi which also gave the saffron party’s chief ministerial candidate in the last Assembly elections.

It was Bedi’s first meeting in Krishna Nagar constituency with party’s local office bearers. The BJP’s CM candidate also said she will file her nomination on Wednesday.

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, who was BJP’s chief ministerial candidate in last Assembly elections, and local MP Maheish Girri were also present at the party’s district-level meeting in constituency’s Gagan Vihar to chalk out party’s election strategy.

Talking to ward and booth level-workers, Bedi said, “I was hoping that Dr Harsh Vardhan would become the Delhi CM. Whenever I  have a problem, I will come back to him for guidance.”

Vardhan was four-time MLA form Krishna Nagar before being elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chandni Chowk seat last year.

She said had Vardhan been elected the CM last year, Delhi would have seen better growth and development. The former lawmaker from Krishna Nagar was the CM candidate for the saffron party.

The city can’t be making the “same mistakes” by voting AAP to power, she added. The former IPS officer claimed that no Delhi Police officer will betray her. “They are waiting eagerly for me to come to power,” she said.

The party leaders who had come out in support of their CM candidate discussed the importance of ensuring better booth management. They also talked about the need to forget internal rift due to ‘surprises’ in the party’s candidate list.

The warm-up speakers like Om Prakash Sharma, former BJP MLA from Vishwas Nagar, and Jai Gopal Verma, Deputy Mayor of NDMC talked about how they will have to throw their weight behind the party’s CM nominee.
