Traders, residents seek early completion of Shettihallli railway underbridge

The traders and residents of Someshwarapuram and SIT Main Road took out a bike rally, demanding the early completion of railway under bridge at Shettihalli on Tuesday.

The rally was taken out from SS Puram Kempanna circle to the district commissioner’s office and later submitted a memorandum to the additional Deputy Commissioner.

The protesters expressing displeasure over the pace at which the work was being carried out, complained that the construction which was started off around two years ago showed no signs of completion and caused inconvenience to the public.

“The residents of Jayanagar, Nrupatunga layout, Marutinagar and Vijayanagar have to come to Upparahalli railway gate, while people from that side have to come via Someshwarapuram to reach their respective destinations. As a result, the commuters are made to traverse an extra distance of five kilometers,” the protesters complained.

Dust from construction

“On the other hand dust emanating from roads due to the halted construction works has made it next to impossible for shopkeepers to sit in shops and is causing respiratory and skin problems,” they complained and urged the authorities concerned and the elected representatives to put an end to the menace.

BJP leader Jyoti Ganesh, Janardhan, Tarakari Mallesh, Karunaradhya, T S Sateesh, Dhaniya Kumar and others were present.
