Two youths killed as BMTC bus rams bike

A BMTC bus rammed a motorbike killing two pillion riders and leaving the rider critically injured near Sakalwara Cross in Bannerghatta on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Ravi and Devaraj. The injured rider, Monish, has been admitted to Nimhans.

The victims, aged around 20 to 25, were residents of Bilekehalli.

According to the police, around 11.20 am, the trio were triple-riding on the two-wheeler when the speeding bus (route number 365J - Kempe Gowda bus stand to Jigani) tried to overtake the bike and rammed it, dragging it for about 80 feet before coming to a halt after hitting the road median.

Passersby alerted the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital where two of them were declared brought dead.

The driver fled the spot after abandoning the bus. The entire stretch was blocked for more than 30 minutes, the police said.

A case has been registered.
