Woody Allen's film best gift of my career: Anupam Kher

Kher would be playing Pinto's father in the film.
The 380-films-old actor, who has previously worked in international films like 'Bend it like Beckham' and 'Bride and Prejudice', said that news could not have come at a better time.

Kher who is celebrating his career's silver jubilee, held a premiere of his debut film 'Saraansh' yesterday in the Metro theatre in Mumbai, where the film was first screened.

"I am extremely happy, this is the best gift for completing 25 years of my acting career. It could not have come at a better time," Kher Told PTI over telephone from Mumbai.

The actor is a huge of fan of the director and counts 'Annie Hall' as his favourite Woody Allen movie.
"Woody Allen is a master of his art. I am playing Freida's father in the film. Freida has created a niche for herself. She's playing an Indian girl in the film which created a role for me," Kher said.

The actor received the good news during the premiere of 'Saransh' yesterday in the presence of his family and friends from the Bollywood fraternity.

"My international agent had sent my tapes to Allen's office and the director seems to have liked them. I have been confirmed for the role," said Kher revealing how he clinched the part.

The actor said has not yet talked to Allen but will meet him at the sets of the film which goes on floor in August.
