Youth make beeline for army recruitment rally

Hundreds of youth registered themselves for selection of soldier clerk, store keeper technical, general duty soldier, and soldier (technical) posts at Indian Army in a recruitment rally held at Mahatha Gandhi ground in Udupi on Tuesday. 

The rally will be held from February 4 to 8. Army recruitment office in Mangaluru has organised the rally.

During the registration day, on Tuesday, physical fitness test and record verification was conducted. Hundreds of aspirants who came from various parts of the state, enrolled their names.

The candidates arriving from Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Kalaburgi, Dharwad, Hubbali, Belagavi, Haveri, Gadaga, Chitradurga of Northern Karnataka started reporting at the venue as early as 5 am. Also, a significant number of youth from other districts too, took part.

The candidates formed a bee line for registration and the queue which started from the rear side of the park, reached Bhujanga park, stretched across a distance of about half kilometer.  

The aspirants waited for hours under the sun.  As the candidates are required to stay for two day, many has brought lunch boxes with them and were found having their food in Muniyalu park.

Some lied down on the footpath of the park to take a nap after the night journey.  The selection process will start from Wednesday 6 am onwards.
